I had a firmware update issue with my Insta360. My fix was to download the previous firmware and install it.

Sony's response seems to me kind of misleading. Before the update the customer had a working camera that probably had an issue with the wi-fi module (if we take sony's response as truthful). After the update the camera stopped working because of added or increased diagnostic features in the firmware. You may run diagnostics all you want. You cannot let them break the camera and leave your customer with a brick instead of a camera.

It's a firmware issue. Sony should fix it

Their response is nonsensical. If people were satisfied with the function until the update, and they admit the firmware changed how the camera responds to hardware to the point of newly showing a malfunction message… That means the firmware is responsible for people losing function they otherwise had no issues with.

The A1 and A7SIII also have major problems after these firmware updates.

i bought this camera 1 month ago and the performance is really good. When i went to my first holiday the camera drpooed by wind and lens guards are broken and the screen of the camera is scratched

So help me understand that - all problems appeared right after firmware upgrade and they tell you that official problem is wifi module not functioning? 😅 I had the same problem - went from everything working to not working with wifi on literally 5 seconds after the upgrade! So how wifi module can be non fuctional all of a sudden 10 seconds after firmware upgrade?

Long Story Short : Sony new firmware update destroyed some camera functions, Sony reach him to Scam/Bullying/Gaslighting him further so He would have (and all clients of this camera) pay for reparation of Sony bullying breaking their cameras. Just like a Marriage when she refuse sex and blame you but she do stuff she never done with you with tons of others guys while manipulate you, but here Its a compagny with your camera.

Bs answer. And you got some lucky special treatment and pricing because you were able to use your megaphone that most people don't have.

This is the only way to solve problems with Sony, own a good UA-cam channel and waist time to make videos about the problem. I think Gerald Undone had a similar issue with Sony or another big company and at a short time after his video about the problem and the way that support employees handled the case, they replaced his product as you received a replacement unit until your problem was miraculously discovered and solved.

Sounds like bullshit to me. So, they admitted that the firmware was the likely cause of the failure. Whether that came by way of some failsafe now being more sensitive to a problem the camera already had, or the firmware itself toasting the board, it doesn't matter. The fact is, the camera worked prior to the firmware update, and now post-update it doesn't. I'd be pretty bent about paying that 300 bucks.

If there may be firmware updates that increase performance, why did you have to suffer and pay for something that they increase the performance to make your device fail that’s dumb they should’ve just fixed it for you

i can confrim the firmware update does have issue with NTSC region cameras - im sure they must have fixed something on this updates. as soon as i kept on blutooth my camera restarted. Later i set it back to BT on and it is working till now , on my other two bodies PAL region there was no such issues

i just updated my FX3s last night, it wont allow using some sony batteries maybe i was sold fake ones , if i still go ahead with it - then it wont show me my battery percentage

And this is why my FX3 is still on firmware V1.0 and I have no plans to update it ever...

You are to damn nice to them and shoulnd have paid 300 for them making your camera brick it self... when ever you get companie respond,.. you should be standing up for the small man! if they repair it for free,.. i would be like roll the firmware back and let bad wifi be,.. probly just an excuse to charge you for their mess up!

I have the same problem. They shouldn’t have charged u if it’s their fault.

So don’t buy a faulty camera, check everything before purchasing and get warranty. If ok only then update. If the firmware could at least message “camera is faulty, upgrade could make camera unusable” Other than that I wouldn’t complain. Or I’m missing something?

And they still charged you? Man…. You would think they would look in to it with so many others having issues with the update

Sony's repair centers only know how to swap components. They know nothing about faulty firmware. (and their explanation smells like complete BS. ) Sony repair will never be able to address an issue caused by firmware, as it's outside their wheelhouse. This is the fault of Sony's firmware team. And it's also impacting other Sony cameras, specifically the FX30 and A7S III. Keep hammering them. Try to get someone in the press to take up the issue.
